Community Energy Projects
Community energy is about people coming together to take action and use local resources to reduce, manage, or produce their own energy. These projects - known as Community Energy Projects (CEPs) - can take place anywhere, from remote villages to urban neighborhoods, and can range from installing solar panels to running energy efficiency campaigns or forming Energy Communities.
Community energy plays a key role in cutting emissions and moving towards net zero. In Bulgaria, community-owned renewable energy can help decarbonize the energy system by generating clean, low-carbon electricity for the grid.
CEPs offer many benefits:
• Boost local economies, create jobs, and attract investment - crucial for a green recovery post-Covid-19
• Lower energy bills for households and businesses
• Strengthen community connection and empowerment
• Generate income to fund more local initiatives
• Unite people to tackle other local challenges, like transport improvements and e-mobility
Our specific services for developing CEPs in the implementation of project DISCOVER include technical and economic modeling. They are based on already established practices for citizen engagement and creating energy communities. Our services will be provided in our One-Stop-Shop, where anyone interested in forming an energy community can consult with our specialists and receive expert advice and guidance.
