Round table and Informational meeting “Decentralization of the energy sector in Bulgaria”, Kostinbrod

The Association of Bulgarian Cities and Regions (ABCR), together with the Municipality of Kostinbrod, organized a round table and an information meeting on "Decentralization of the energy sector in Bulgaria".

The event was held on 20.10.2022, at the "Ivan Vazov – 1947" Community Center.

We invited all representatives of businesses and the non-governmental sector to participate in a round table from 15:30 to 17:00, in the Small Hall.

From 17:10. all interested parties and citizens could attend the information meeting in the Great Hall of the Chitalishte, which after its official part continued in an informal environment.

The decentralisation of the energy sector is an important topic in terms of the energy transition. Electricity and heat generated from renewable energy sources (RES) require the construction of many small generation facilities that are located closer to the place of consumption.

What are the advantages of a decentralized system and what kind of infrastructure do we need?

Can we be energy independent?

What is the return on investment in RES?

These were some of the questions discussed at the event in Kostinbrod.

More information can be found on the Facebook page of the event: Second Information Campaign "Decentralization of the Energy Sector" | Facebook

The events are part of an information campaign focused on the three axes of the transition to a green economy – Decarbonization, Decentralization and Digitalization, of the PROJECT "ACTIVE CITIZENS FOR ENERGY INDEPENDENT MUNICIPALITIES", which is implemented with the financial support of Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway under the Active Citizens Fund Bulgaria within the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area.

The main objective of the project is to raise civic awareness in the municipalities of Panagyurishte, Kostinbrod, Tryavna and Dryanovo about energy democracy through collective actions to support the energy transition.
